- Collection of waste from HPLCs: HPLCs generate constant chemical waste. It is acceptable to pump directly into a waste container if the vessel is 'closed' with an attached and completed waste pick up tag. For a glass bottle, you may drill small holes for through a lid to accept the detector effluent tubing or close by wrapping parafilm around the top and HPLC effluent tubing. For a 5 gal container, drill small holes through the lid to accept the detector effluent tubing. When you start to use a new container, just swap the lids to keep using your lid with holes.
