Undergraduate Research Awards

As a research intensive department, undergraduate students have the opportunity to work in research labs, take independent study, and take specialty courses. This page summarizes some of the undergraduates recognized for their participation.


The Great Lakes Section ISPE Regional Meeting poster competition gives undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to showcase research or project work related to healthcare technology.

Great Lakes Section ISPE Regional Poster Competition
March 8-9, 2005 in Indianapolis , IN

Jairus Kleinert took first place in the undergraduate competition. His poster was entitled ,   "Immobilizing Enzymes and Cofactors in a Polyacrylic Acid Gel for Biosensor Applications."

 

Jairus will enter his poster in the international competition to be held at the 2005 Annual ISPE Meeting, 6-10 November 2005 in Scottsdale , Arizona .  

ISPE regional Student Poster Competition
Sept. 25-26, 2002

Mike Hines, an MSU CHE senior, took first place in the ISPE regional Student Poster Competition held Sept. 25-26, 2002.

Mike Hines, an MSU Chemical Engineering senior, took first place in the ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) Student Poster Competition at the Great Lakes Chapter Meeting held Sept. 25-26, 2002, in Dearborn, Michigan. Hines's poster, entitled "Protein Expression in Computer-Controlled Bioreactors," placed first in the undergraduate category.

Hines represented the five-state Great Lakes Chapter at the International Student Poster Competition held Nov 3-7, 2002, in Orlando, Florida. Winners of the international competition receive cash awards and are offered the opportunity to publish their materials in ISPE's journal Pharmaceutical Engineering, the Society's bi-monthly newsletter ISPEAK, and other ISPE publications.

Hines says of the Orlando trip, "It was exciting to see the work of other students from around the country. The competition was a great opportunity for networking within the pharmaceutical industry, and I recommend that other students utilize all the opportunities ISPE has to offer."
