Regular Status
The following summarizes the combined Departmental and College
requirements for admission to the master's program in Chemical
Engineering.
Admission to the master's program with regular status may
be granted by the department, subject to the availability
of resources and approval of the Dean, upon consideration
of the likelihood that the applicant will be able to pursue
a graduate program successfully without need of collateral
work. The following will be considered in evaluating eligibility
for admission:
1. A Bachelor's degree in an accredited program in chemical
engineering with high academic achievement.
2. A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
where the applicant has shown a very high academic achievement,
as certified by the department.
3. Evidence of ability and resolution to complete a master's
program, as attested by the department upon review of the
applicant's academic record, test scores, experience, reference
statements, professional qualifications, proposed studies
and other relevant information.
4. Foreign applicants must provide scores on Test of English
as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and analytical, quantitative,
and verbal scores from Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).
Provisional Status
A provisional admission to the Master's degree program may
be granted, subject to approval of the Dean. Candidates with
a B.S. in a degree other than Chemical Engineering are usually
granted provisional admission.
1. To an applicant, otherwise qualified for regular admission
except that collateral work as part of the degree program
is deemed necessary.
2. To an applicant whose record has not yet been evaluated.
If collateral work is required, the acceptable grade and
semester by which collateral requirements must be met will
be specified on the admission form. The provisional status
will be changed to regular status when the conditions specified
on the admission form have been met, as certified by the department
and approved by the dean.
